With the STARS Knowledge Portal we express the ambition to make it a first port of call for anyone wishing to understand more deeply the use of remote sensing technology in smallholder farming applications. We aim at junior African and Asian students in earth observation, but hope that there will be enough to learn also for the practitioning remote sensing technician and expert, for the various recipients of the information derived, as well as for staff of donor organizations that aim to help put in place some of this technology.
The Knowledge Portal is that part of the STARS website where general know-how as well as our project results are made available to the public. We will publish reports and papers, references to hardware as used in the STARS project, but later also example images and crop signatures, all our developed algorithms, with instructions of how to apply these yourselves, as well as definitions of more intricate information workflows.
The Knowledge Portal currently consists of three sections:
- The Landscaping Study
- MSc theses that report on STARS-related work
Select 'Landscaping Study', ‘MSc theses’ or 'Tutorials' in the menu under ‘Knowledge Portal’ to get access to one of these sections.
As soon as additional results become available, these will be shared through the Portal. So keep an eye on our homepage for news in the near future.
