MSc research results now available

It is with great pleasure that we can share with you the results of MSc research in the STARS domain. Four students from Wageningen University and University of Twente, Faculty of ITC have published MSc theses that report on STARS-related work. They address the following topics:

  • The influence of different classification methods, vegetation indices, strata and spatial/temporal resolutions on crop recognition in smallholder fields in Mali, using remote sensing techniques.
  • A sub-pixel analysis of multi-spectral high-resolution satellite imagery for weed detection and monitoring in smallholder farms.
  • The capability of the LSD algorithm for field boundary delineation and crop row detection combining all available information present in different bands before applying the LSD algorithm.
  • Determining the extent to which very fine spatial resolution remote sensing imagery from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and satellites can be used to assess field level maize yield variability.

Summaries of all theses are now available, including*1 direct access to the full-text version of each thesis.

*1 The full-text version of Wilmar van Ommeren's thesis is not included as his thesis has not yet been released by the University of Wageningen. You will find his thesis in our Knowledge Portal as soon as it becomes available.
